THE FACE OF BRITAIN

Here is the face of Britain as one humor
ous artist sees it! This young man is yet another Press Art
School pupil whose work is now appearing frequently in ‘ Punch. ’
The face of Britain has changed; many things are changing, some of them for the worse ... War is like that.
This makes it all the more important that we should stand firmly by the things that mean so much to some of us, the things of the mind.
War must not stifle the Arts... the last War could not... Think
of the lovely poems, the marvellous pic
tures which were born of that War. Some great work will most surely come out of the present struggle — if we Teachers carry on and you young artists and artists-to-be have the courage and sincerity of the artists of 1914-18.
The Press Art School is carrying on in this War, as in the last . . . and it is some
thing more than a coincidence that the artists who collaborate with me on my postal lessons are men who themselves made great reputations during the last War in their different fields . . . from Norman Wilkinson and Fred Mason, for example, with their remarkable War sea pictures, to Bert Thomas with his priceless side lights on the brighter side of War.
These are the men — and others equally distinguished — who show you how YOU can develop your latent abilities, if you take a Press Art School postal course in Art. Would you like to know more about this ? Then write for the illus
trated Brochure — telling all about the School and its methods.
