Contents for September

MODERN PHOTOGRAPHY forms an important item in the September Number. Eighteen superb subjects, each by a master of the Art of the Camera,
exemplify well the remarkable developments ivhich the last few years have seen in the handling and application of this medium.
Mr. Oliver P. Bernard contributes a provocatively stimulating article upon the question of ILLUMINATION, illustrated from examples, both architectural and portable, of contemporary designs in Great Britain and the Continent.
SPANISH OLD MASTERS are represented by eight large reproductions, including an especially fine early Velazquez in colour, from the recent exhibition at the Tomas Harris Gallery.
Mr. Cecil Aldin, writing upon the ideal properties of Majorca as an artist s happy-hunting-ground,
initiates the first of a series of ARTIST’S TOURS to sketching grounds of their choice.
In addition, there is an extensive article by Mr. Malcolm Salaman on CURRENT FINE PRINTS and another by M. Robert Block, the well-known Parisian designer of furniture and in
terior, besides an extended series of Notes on events of Art Importance and Reviews of Books.
