A CATALOGUE RAISONNÉ
of
ETCHINGS AND DRYPOINTS
(1902—1924)
by
JAMES McBEY
Compiled by MARTIN HARDIE
The etched work of James McBey now comprises over two hundred and twenty plates, and for some time past Collectors have felt the want of a Catalogue Raisonné of these Etchings.
The Catalogue is preceded by an Introduction, in which Mr. Martin Hardie (who is the Keeper of the Department of Engraving, Illustration, and Design, in the Victoria and Albert Museum) combines a historical and critical summary of McBey’s etched work, with a careful study of the artist’s outlook and method.
In the Catalogue each etching is described, particulars of dimensions, trial proofs, states and editions being given in full; moreover, each subject (except four early plates which had not been traced, at the time of going to press) is carefully reproduced in collotype.
There will be one edition only of this Catalogue, limited to five hundred copies, of which four hundred and seventyfive will be for sale at £6 6s. od. each. Every copy will contain an original etching, signed by the artist. Orders will be registered in sequence of application, which should therefore be made early.
Though the publishers may, on some future occasion, issue a supplementary volume, this present Catalogue will not be reprinted.
Subscription Forms can be obtained on application from the Publishers,
