Domestic labour of working women and peasant women, was not valued highly in old Russia. The housewife would toil kneading dough and baking it into bread. The Soviet woman of today is relieved of the necessity of home baking. Mechanical bakeries now produce for her various different kinds of bread, cake and sweet rolls, and scores of different kinds of pretzels and other fancy breadstuffs. 

The home delivery of these comestibles is becoming a common thing in the capital and industrial centres of the country.
