This treatment in the terra cotta detail with the spirit of its modeling is reminiscent of the pre-Renaissance style of Lombardy. The roughened surface of the terra cotta will eventually tone down uniformly with adjacent brick and blend into soft harmony the pronounced spotting of the fire flashed coloring in these parts
