Why Architects Everywhere Are Specifying the Newport Boiler
HERE is a boiler which has gained the warm
approval of architects and those technically informed on modern heating demands.
Because it is the only successful boiler ever developed for the automatic heating of homes and business buildings, and the only boiler which conforms to all scientific and practical principles for proper combustion.
There are four well defined laws for obtaining the best results in burning coal. They are:
1st. The fuel feed should be gradual and even.
2nd. The fuel bed should be of uniform thickness.
3rd. Different sizes of fuel require different fuel bed depths.
4th. Draft changes should be gradual and even.
The diagrams explain how, in the Newport, the first three principles are accomplished.
And the fourth basic law is obeyed by the Newport patented, combined check and draft which is automatically controlled by a sensitive regulator.
If you are not thoroughly familiar with the Newport Automatic Feed Boiler, and with the reasons why it has won such widespread popularity, write for a complete analysis of it.
These diagrams show the arrangement of the patented water-cooled throat and sloping grates in the Newport. Fig. 1 shows the throat in position for using pea or buckwheat fuel. Note the thin fuel bed. Fig. 2 shows the throat adjusted for larger sizes of fuel, automatically giving a greater fuel bed depth. In Fig. 3, the throat is extended for still larger sizes of fuel. The Fuel bed depth is again automatically increased. In all positions the fuel bed is of even depth and combustion is uniform and complete all over the grate. No other boiler uses or can use this system. It is a patented Newport feature.
