Aberdeen, N. C. — It is reported that the Presbyterian congregation has adopted plans for a new church prepared by Hook & Rogers, Charlotte, N. C.; brick; slate roof. Address Rev. J. D. A. Brown.
Reports state that the Milwaukee Railway will establish a new town on the Missouri river, Duroc. A concrete hotel will be erected there and other buildings.
Akron, O. — It is reported that Long & Taylor are preparing to erect a $100, 000 building at Main and Howard Sts.
Alexandria, La. — All bids for the erection of new college buildings for the State Baptist College have been rejected. Rev. D. F. Lawrence, chairman committee.
A company has been organized with J. Marriott Hill, of Alexandria, president, to erect a five-story apartment house; cost, $ 125, 000.
Apollo, Pa. — It is reported that a new church for the Presbyterian congregation will soon be erected from plans by J. C. Fulton, of Uniontown, Pa. A new church will also be erected for the Methodist congregation.
Asheville, N. C. — A $300, 000 hotel is proposed for the corner of Walnut and Hayward Sts., to have 294 rooms and 150 baths. It will be built by Frank Loughran, of the Swannanoa and Berkeley Hotels.
Athens, O. — It is stated that a $50, 000 M. E. Church is to be erected here. Rev. W. L. Slutz, D. D., pastor.
Athol, Mass. — It is reported that the plant of L. S. Starrett Co. at this place will be enlarged by the erection of three buildings. Frost, Briggs & Chamberlain, of. Worcester, are architects.
Atlanta, Ga. — W. F. Winecoff, 485 Peachtree St., is arranging for the erection of a $50, 000 residence in Ansley Park.
Atlantic City, N. J. — Atlantic City Elks have closed a deal whereby the lodge comes into possession of the Hotel Ridgeway, on North Carolina Ave., below Atlantic Ave. In a short time architects will be invited to submit competitive designs for a new Elk home, to be built at once on the site, in connection with a stag hotel. The new structure is to cost not less than $100, 000.
Augusta, Ga. — Board of Education will open bids July 9 for the erection of school buildings in the Fifth Ward. Plans and specifications on file in the office of L. F. Goodrich, architect.
Baltimore, Md. — Jas. S. Gary & Son, 722 Equitable Building. Calvert and Fayette Sts., have purchased lot, 25 × 300 feet, at Scott St. and Baltimore & Ohio Railroad tracks and, it is reported, will erect warehouse on the site.
Bellevue, Iowa. — Reports state that a company will be formed to erect a public hall, 40 × 90, frame, covered with corrugated iron.
Berkley, Va. — It is proposed by the Glamorgan Pipe and Foundry Co. to expend
about $400, 000 for the erection of a new plant. A 12-acre site has been purchased. Main office at Lynchburg.
Bethlehem, Pa. — Bids are being received by A. W. Leh, architect, for the construction of new dormitories at Lehigh University. Estimated cost, $100, 000.
Blackwell, O. T. — G. M. Warinner has purchased the site of the old opera house and will erect a new one of cement blocks and steel as nearly fireproof as possible.
Bloomington, Ind — Wing & Mahurin, Architects, Pixley-Long Building, Fort Wayne, Ind., are preparing plans for a court-house to cost $150, 000.
Bridgeport, Conn — Plans are being drawn for a church for the St. Jean de Baptist Parish of Bridgeport. The structure will be brick, 54 × 132, with slate roof, steam heat, leaded glass, copper gutters, etc., and seat 1, 000. Elias Cojdics, pastor,
Brunswick, Ga. — Southern Railway has had plans prepared and bids are being received for erection of proposed fireproof warehouse to rest on cement piles, 100 × 300 feet, and have three overhead tracks and a large crane for handling material direct from vessel; cost, $50, 000. D. W. Lum, chief engineer, Washington, D. C.
Buffalo, N. Y. — Walter B. Duffy, of Rochester, who owns the Lafayette Hotel here, will spend $1, 000, 000 in doubling the size and capacity of that hotel, having purchased the land alongside the hotel on Ellicott St.
