Columbus, Ohio. — The Sisters of the Good Shepherd, it is reported, have contracted with R. W. McGrath, Ruggery Building, for the construction of a new convent building at this place and a $60, 000 chapel.
Reports state that the United States Government will erect a hospital building, to cost $100, 000. Plans have not arrived from Washington, D. C., as yet.
Conneaut, Ohio. — It is reported that a $50, 000 school will be erected at this place.
Dallas, Tex. — A $5, 000, 000 depot will be erected, according to reports, by the Dallas Terminal Railway and Union Depot Company. W. C. Connor, president.
Lang & Mitchell, architects, have plans for the new building to be erected at this city by the Y. M. C. A. of Dallas. Cost, $100, 000. Rev. T. C. Horton is secretary.
Dayton, Ohio. — The congregation of the Holy Family R. C. Church, it is reported, will erect a $40, 000 school. Rev. J. P. Downy, pastor.
Denver, Col. — It is reported that plans are being prepared for a 4-story apartment house to be erected by the Grant Building and Investment Co., at 14th and Tremont Sts., at a cost of $100, 000. F. E. Edbrooke, architect.
Detroit, Mich. — D. H. Burnham & Co., 7 Jackson Boulevard, Chicago, are taking figures on a bank and office building to be built at the northwest corner of Griswold and Congress Aves., Detroit, for Edward Ford, of Toledo, O. It will be 18-story, 140 × 110 feet, and cost about $1, 000, 000.
J. G. Kastler has completed plans for a large brewery plant to be erected on Springwells Ave. and the railroad. Cost, $100, 000. John Coll, President.
The Detroit Journal will erect a new building for their newspaper requirements, five stories high. For this structure they have invited Detroit architects to submit plans. No drawings to be paid for, but the one successful will receive 5 per cent. of the cost.
Malcolmson & Higginbotham, we are advised, have prepared plans for 3-story building for the Detroit University School, to be erected corner Larned St. and Elmwood Ave. F. L. Bliss, Principal.
Dubuque, Ia. — Roshek Gros., it is announced, will erect a 4-story and basement building at Main and 8th Sts. John Spencer, architect, has plans for a building, 114 × 126, pressed brick, terra-cotta and steel construction.
East Orange, N. J. — Preliminary plans submitted by Tubby & Peel, architects, 81 Fulton St., New York, for the proposed Fourth ward school, have been approved and building will begin as soon as permanent plans are ready. Cost, $105, 000.
Eddystone, Pa. — The members of the R. C. Church St. Rose of Lima, it is stated, are contemplating the erection of a $60, 000 edifice and a $25, 000 school.
Edgewater Park, N. J. — George E. Savage, 401 Chestnut St., Philadelphia, Pa., is working on plans for a new residence to be built at Edgewater Park, N. J., for Mr. A. L. Barnes, of 116 South Delaware Ave., the house to be 34 × 50 feet, of reinforced concrete construction.
Evanston, Ill. — Plans have been completed for the new edifice for St. Luke’s Church, which will be erected at Hinman Ave. and Lee St., at a cost of $100, 000.
Fort Smith, Ark. — It is reported that R. E. Abbott, of Boston, will erect a cotton mill here, capitalized at $800, 000.
W. H. Blakeley, it is reported, has secured the contract to erect the Atinson Building, at a cost of about $75, 000.
Fort William, Canada. — P. J. Manion, who recently sold the Moriggi, at Port Arthur, Geo. H. Graham, manager of the Rainy River Navigation Company, and Thos. J. Horn, director of the Mine Centre Lumber Company, have instructed their architect to visit New York and other points in the United States, to get information for building an up-to-date hotel, to cost $250, 000.
Fort Worth, Tex. — The congregation of the First Methodist Church, it is announced, will erect a new edifice to cost $80, 000. Smith & Schenk, of Fort Worth, are architects.
It is stated that a large exposition building, to cost about $200, 000, will be erected by the Armour and Swift Packing Companies.
The Elks of this city will erect a building for their society to cost $50, 000. Chas.
Wheeler is chairman of the Building Committee.
The contract for a new building for the congregation of the First Methodist Church has been let to C. W. Forbes, of Fort Worth, at about $100, 000.
Fredericktown, Mo. — Reports state that the North American Lead Co., of Columbus, Ohio, will build a $250, 000 smelter on its property here.
Gaffney, S. C. — It is stated that a $2, 000, 000 power plant is to be erected by the Dove Construction Co., of Pittsburg, Pa., on the Broad river.
Gallatin, Mo. — Bids are asked by the County Court, N. R. Barnett, County Clerk, until I P. M., August 27, for furnishing materials and labor required in the erection and completion of the new courthouse at Gallatin, according to the plans and specifications prepared by P. H. Weathers & Co., architects, Kansas City, Mo.
Green Bay, Wis. — German & Lignell, architects, of Duluth, have been directed to prepare plans for the new federal building for this city, to cost $250, 000.
Greensboro, Ala. — Contractors are invited to submit sealed proposals for the erection of a new county courthouse. Plans and specifications may be inspected in the office of the Judge of Probate of Hale County, at Greensboro, Ala., and at the office of the architect, E. J. Ostling, at Montgomery, Ala.
Guthrie, Okla. — The County Commissioners, it is stated, are considering the erection of a court house at a cost of $100, 000.
Harrisburg, Pa. — It is reported that plans have been prepared for a $50, 000 church for the Messiah Lutheran congregation. — A. A. Richter, Lebanon, Pa., is architect.
Houston, Tex. — Plans have been prepared for a $75, 000 edifice for St. Paul’s Methodist Church, to be erected on Mc­ Gowan and Milan Sts. —Bids will be received by the building committee.
Howell, Mich. — We are advised that Malcomson & Higginbotham have prepared designs for a State Sanatorium for the care of consumptive patients, to be built near Howell, Mich. Huntington, W. Va. — Rabenstein & Warne, architects, Charleston, W. Va., have drawn plans for an Institutional Church, to be built at Huntington. Will have a gymnasium, library, reading room, complete restaurant and a dining room.
Huron, S. D. — Congress appropriated $100, 000 for a Federal building.
