Brooklyn, N. Y. — Albert E. Parfitt, architect, delivered a lecture April 3 before the Allied Arts Association, at the Nesmith Mansion, 117 Remsen street. The lecture was illustrated by lantern-slides and dissolving views. Mr. Parfitt’s lecture was entitled, “An Architectural Ramble Through Europe in the Sixteenth Century. ” Not only were most of the important cathedrals and edifices of Europe shown, but a number of drawings made by eminent architects and archæologists were thrown on the screen.

Albany, N. Y. — It is reported that Architects Scopes & Fenstmann, of Saranac Lake, have been commissioned to prepare the plans for the new Vermont State Hospital for the Treatment of Tuberculosis, donated by Senator Redfield Proctor.
Albany, N. Y. — A bill has been introduced in State Senate to provide for the erection of a State library building in this city. The bill limits the total expenditure to $3, 500, 000, and appropriates $400, 000 for the purchase of a site.

The Young Men’s Christian Association

Annapolis, Md. — The Legislature, it is stated, has appropriated $50, 000 for the St. Mary’s Industrial School.
Asheville, N. C. — C. H. Miller, representing the Smith Estate, has had plans prepared by R. S. Smith for the erection of a 6-story hotel 128 × 139 ft.; fireproof construction. Cost, $150, 000.
Atlanta, Ga. — D. P. Phillips, manager for the Van Amberg Circus, has secured 20 acres of ground on which will be erected 12 or 15 buildings, steam heated; Morgan & Dillon, Prudential Building, architects. About $200, 000 will be invested.
Jim P. Anderson and associates have organized a company with $100, 000 capital stock for the erection of a theatre, to have a seating capacity of 2, 500.
Atlanta, Ga. — Architects Golucke & Co., it is reported, have prepared plans for an edifice which is to be erected by the members of the Greek Church. The cost to be about $50, 000.
Atlantic City, N. J. — The Atlantic City Hospital is having plans prepared by Davis Brothers, architects. 1600 Chestnut St., Philadelphia, Pa., for a 4-story brick and steel addition, to be of fireproof construction.
Baltimore, Md. — Ellicott & Emmart, architects, 1101-1102 Union Trust building, are preparing plans for a bank building at Saratoga and Charles Sts., for the Colonial Trust Co. Building will be of stone and steel, 1-story, and fireproof. Cost, $60, 000.
