Five years ago I had the lower part of Military Street Bridge painted with National Lead Co. pure Red Lead and Linseed
Oil, and the upper part with a graphite paint, for a test, and am pleased to inform you that the Red Lead is in first-class condition and has kept the bridge from corroding, while the other paint used on the upper part did not give satisfaction as it would not stand
the acid which comes from the river. We are going to paint all the other bridges in the city, and am glad to inform you that we will use your Red Lead and Linseed Oil for all bridge work. Yours respectfully,

Red Lead is always used for metal preservation when once fairly tried. Specifications for painting
