THE TECH ARCHITECTURAL SOCIETY.
The Tech Architectural Society has started a scholarship fund for needy students in that department by a contribution of $200. The proceeds of the Architectural Annual will be added to the fund each year. When it reaches $1,000 the income will be available for use. The scholarships are to be loans, and not gifts. The Society contemplates changing the Annual to a magazine, published every two months.
MUNICIPAL ART SOCIETY OF NEW YORK.
The awards in the competition held by the Municipal Art Society for historical paintings for the side walls of the west vestibule of the Morris High School, One Hundred and Sixty-sixth Street and Boston Road, New York, have been announced. The first prize was awarded to Edward Willard Deming, of 5 Macdougal Alley. This prize consists of a commission to execute the full-sized paintings, for which
$3,000 will be paid. Second and third prizes went to William Dean Hamilton, of 5 Brinmore Street, Boston, Mass., and to Karl Hassman, of 53 East Fifty-ninth Street. Francis Newton, of 15 West Sixty-seventh Street, and W. H. Bancroft, of 145 West Fifty-fifth Street received honorable mention.
