R.A. 1927] CINEMA AT FULHAM. Clough Williams-Ellis, Architect. Drawing by Hubert Clist, A.R.l.B.A.
CINEMA AT FULHAM
This is quite one of the most attractive cinema designs which have been executed in recent years. Mr. Clough Williams-Ellis has here utilised the corner .site to the fullest advantage. The fine entrance portico, with its tall slender columns, is roofed with a circular mansard which is surmounted by a lantern of a very elegant pattern. This feature has a gallery with slender iron railing round its base, while the
little stone columns with entablature above are crowned with a dome with a statue at its summit. Narrow projecting wings with long panels inset mark the lateral extremities of the building, while the wall spaces between these and the portico are decorated with framed posters, presumably illustrative of the current “ picture ” which is being screened inside.
