in Tudor Style
T
YPICAL of the Yeomen’s Louses of the Early Tudor period in South-East England, this informal style of architecture is now enjoying renewed popularity.
The structural timber framing of Walls is invariably of large scantling giving a pleasing surface pattern and an emphasis to the strength and stability of the fabric; the brick-nogging between the timbers always being treated in an interesting and Varying manner.
Some of the finest examples of this style of architecture ere found in East Sussex, where the natural development of the occommodation required, produced a definite scale and proportion quite different from the scholastic formality of the Palladian style.
The high pitched roof, forming a large portion of the exterior, demands a good hand-made tile of pleasing colour and texture, and 60 years’ Valuable experience have perfected the ‘Triton’ Tile in order that this demand might be satisfied.
Hand-made of Staffordshire clays, doubled Weathered to prevent lamination, ‘Triton’ Tiles can be had for new roofs, or for the renovation of old Work, in 52 Varieties and combinations of natural and special colours, shades and textures including the Gloucester Grey. ’
Next month our subject will be ˮThe pantiled roofs and cobbled Walls of Norfolk, ” and meanwhile We shall be happy to send you a catalogue, samples, or answer your inquiries concerning tiles for any specific or general purpose.
